At the Cockrell Butterfly Center, located at Houston's Natural Museum of Science, butterflies flutter freely through the air in an environment created especially for them. The visitors get to experience first hand what is like in a Yucatan jungle rainforest. Complete with a limestone sinkhole, 40 foot waterfall, and cave with swimming piranhas. You can immerse yourself in a colorful world of of 1,500 free-flying exotic and native butterflies. Wear bright clothing and maximize your chances of having butterflies dance around your head or land on your shirt. The rain forest exit leads to the Brown Hall of Entomology, which displays preserved specimens of tropical butterflies, moths and beetles. An excellent family activity
