The Houston Zoo is one of the top attractions in Texas. The Houston Zoological Gardens is located in Herman Park, near downtown Houston. More than 50 acres of landscaped tropical gardens are home to 2,500 animals featured in there naturalistic settings. Housing some of the worlds most beautiful and exotic creatures, the Houston Zoo is a wonderful place to teach children about the different animals of the world. The McGovern's Children Zoo is also located inside the park, which gives the children the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals.

The Houston Zoo is open 365 days of the year from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  March through September and from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. October through February.  The McGovern Children’s Zoo closes 30 minutes prior to the rest of the Zoo.  There is no charge to enter the Children's Zoo with your paid Zoo admission.
